22 Consolidated net profit/loss for the period
In financial year 2008, the Group generated a consolidated net loss for the period of €1,979 million (previous year: net profit of €1,873 million, restated). Of the consolidated net loss, €1,688 million (previous year: net profit of €1,383 million, restated) is attributable to Deutsche Post AG shareholders. The main reasons for the net loss for the period were the restructuring expenses in the US business and the loss for the period incurred by the Deutsche Postbank Group.
